Working with Articles



- An article is a publication, entry or composition on a certain subject. Usually articles appear in magazines, newspapers and on the Internet.  PHPCow allows you to quickly create articles, whether they are short summary-like blurbs or lengthy documents & multi-page articles. Creating an Article - (STEP 1 of 2) - To create an article, open the Article management tab in the left navigation menu and click Add article.



Enter the details of the article in the form.


 
Enable Expiration: Click this box if you wish to create an expiration date for the article. When the article expires, it will no longer be visible on the website.
Expiration Date: Choose an expiration date for the article. The article will no longer be visible on the website on that date.
Title: Give the article a name. This title will appear on the site when this article is referenced.
Prefix: Prefix before article title. For example: Special Report: Article Title Here. Special report is the prefix.
Description: Place a summary of the article in this space. It is the short description of the article.
Author: Enter the name of the article-s author.
Type: Choose one of the options to better sort the article: by assigning the types you can differentiate articles in blocks.

Article Photo: Click Browse to look for an image on your hard drive that you wish to attach to this article. Choose .jpg files.
Photo Caption: Write the caption/description of the photo.
Category: Choose a category to place this article in.
Allow comments: Check the box if you want readers to respond with comments to the article. (please check comments plugin for more info.
External link: If you want to link the article directly to the URL and not the article view, write the address here. Example: http://www.somedomain.com
Manage article attachments: Click here to attach files to your article such as PDF or Audio/Video files.

Creating an Article - (STEP 2 of 2)
 
Copy-paste the article directly from any text document (MS Word, Website, etc), insert photos, and click Save.

You will then see the success message.



From here you can create another article or manage the article attachments and photos.
